Just posting to say thumbs up HP. I recently "inherited" a deskjst 660C printer.

Got the drivers no problem and despite a new ink cartridge the black print was smudged. Visite HPs support site and found fantastic, animated instrtuctions on how to thoroughly clean the printer. This is a great contrast to a certain otehr large printer manufacturer (starts with an "E") - there advice in a similar case was - buy a new printer!!!

I've previously had excellent service from Canon too, when a scanner I bought from PC World packed in. Despite strong consumer rights in the UK (Sale of Goods Act), PC World didn't want to know. It was just outsdie of the 12 month guarenttee, but Canon send an engineer out next working day who promptly fixed the fault. I'd buy Canon and I recommentd you to, given the service above for a £40 scanner)

I bought a HP Laserjet 4+ on ebay for £40. I works like a dream (even with XP). It's done 30,000 pages so far so probably has another 100k pages worth of printing left in it :D

Well at the price of printer cartridges nowadays you might as well just buy a new printer when the ink runs out of the one you get with the printer. A couple of ink cartridges will cost almost as much as the printer.

hmmmm....could that be an Epson! There..I'm not afraid to say it - my experience was truely horrible - I went right back to HP - I have a 990cse that I just LOVE. In fact my mom has my old HP it's about 6 years old and still going strong!

Yeah, the Epson 777 model was one of their worst ever. I've seen an office have to replace that one more than once. I use a small Canon BJC-2100 and it works fine for me.

A long story for you all :)

Well if u all read above I got a lexmark printer in november.

£129.99 its all in one and the printing quality and speed is exellent, anyway at the weekend my wife was ironing and the dog (Simba) hates the iron he is scared of it.
She open'd the door to let him in, he saw the iron and ran to me for cover, and ran right in to my pc, (I keep the side cover off to help with the temp on the cpu)
Anyway I had 8 applications running and had not done a backup in 5 weeks, I lost all my work and the main sys file was corrupt so it meant a fresh install.
Out of anger, not forgetting I lost all my customers orders, email and contacts and at the time the pc crashed I was answering support questions.
I picked my chair up and threw it at the pc :refilao:
It hit my pc and desk bounced back at the printer and knocked it of the little table at the side of my desk, causing it to break.

The pc was fine after I did a format and reinstall, the chair was fine after a lot of glue, but my printer :eye-popin: was not working the display did not work and I could not get it up and running.

The day after on monday I emailed Lexmark, and explained the story in return today I recieved a email from them.

LOL

I'm glad to see that its not only me that has a short fuse. Some people say count to ten while taking deep breaths..... but that just makes me worse :D

I find throwing chairs and sfuff helps calm me.... but I throw it away from my pc

Anyway, glad to hear that you will be getting a new 1 from Lexmark.
