Uptimes

I noticed you have a 99.5% uptime guarantee. While checking the Alerta links you have listed above, I noticed that some servers had uptimes of 93-97% for April.

I was wondering if this is normal for you (or for the industry) and what your guarantee is all about.

Also, what server (macbeth, othello, etc) would I be assigned if I got a reseller account. I'm in New York.

Thanks.

If you sign up now I think you would be put on the server romeo, this has had very good uptime over the last few months with no major downtime like the other servers and will hopefully stay like this...

Most of the big downtime is caused by external entities such as someone hacking the server, or network provider having problems... the server hardware seems to be pretty reliable so far...

Also note that we are only half way through April so far, and the 99.5% is based on a full month. Therefore until the full month is up the statistics for April are not accurate as it would change on a minute by minute basis depending on whether or not the server remains up for the rest of the month, or encounters any more downtime. Much of the downtime on Romeo was caused by some network problems as a result of a DoS attack on another box, this has now been resolved and all boxes have had transfer capped to prevent such issues causing problems in the future.

We are currently populating Romeo at the moment so if you were to sign up in the next few weeks, this is the server you would be on.

Best regards,

Jo

Uptime on client servers this month so far:

Bravo: 100.000%
Juliet: 100.000%
Macbeth: 99.912%
Othello: 100.000%
Romeo: 99.882%

Last month:

Bravo: 99.891%
Juliet: 99.968%
Macbeth: 99.556%
Othello: 99.978%
Romeo: 99.840%

These are based on five minute averages, so I would suggest that real uptime is somewhat higher in each case as a 30 second downtime is considered as a five minute downtime in every instance.

Best,

Jo
