cPanel themes

Do you allow resellers to choose different cpanel themes? Personally I like the Vertex theme, mainly because it displays the root info prominently on top.

If so, which themes are included and are they customizable?

Thanks (again).

Just checked in WHM and you can still change the theme for your clients, however Cpanel advance is the only one that is customisable I believe. You can send in your logo and it will be in the top left instead of the normal Cpanel logo.

Also if you search the forum for Cpanel themes you will see a thread that has a preview image of each theme. If you want to try each one out in your browser though you can do this once you signup by making a test account then changing the theme, and log in to cpanel and take a look. Change it again then take another look.

EDIT:: Heres preview images - http://forums.kualo.com./showthread....=cpanel+themes

In addition to Steve's comments, I'll just add that you can actually customise any theme you want, but you'd have to download the theme files and modify them, and then upload them to a directory in your account and we can install it in WHM for you. There are several hundred files per account, so if you just wanted a quick modification then emailing us a logo for insertion in cpanel advance theme is the best idea. That theme is our own, and is quite pretty. It includes several easy install programs too.

Ahh, I didn't know we could do our own Cpanel themes... anyway, I think Cpanel Advance is the best looking, best layout, and also has the fantastico auto install programmes accessable through it.

Cpanel advance is also one of the most functional.

Thanks for the replies

Speaking of Fantastico -- does that program work well? Ever have any errors auto-installing huge scripts like osCommerce?

Also, regarding php, is:

safe_mode turned off?
open_basedir turned off?

Safe mode is currently off, and open_basedir is showing no value, so it looks off to me too

Fantastico works well for me, I have installed various things from it (not osCommerce however) and it has always worked well. However I still prefer to install most things myself as you can always download the most upto date version and have more control over where it is installed.

Thanks again. Ok one more

About nameservers, IP's, etc. -- I'm a bit of a dingbat on this subject. Maybe you guys could clear it up for me, please? I'm not new to registering a domain or changing nameservers, but this is confusing me:

Say I want to setup a hosting company called 'mycompany.com'
Nameservers: ns1.mycompany.com & ns2.mycompany.com
I'll be assigned 2 static IP's once I setup my reseller account (I'm assuming)

What would I have to register first, where do I point everything, and what do the IP's correspond to (my nameservers, domain or both)? A step-by-step would be greatly appreciated.

Also, what is the "IP's require justification as per ARIN guidelines" thing I've read about?

OK, you need to register the domain mycompany.com. When you sign-up for the reseller account in your welcome email you will be assigned 2 IPs. Goto your domain registrars website and login to your control panel. Find "register nameservers" or "create nameservers for this domain"... Put in ns1.mycompany.com and the first IP you were assigned. Do the same for ns2 and click create. Thats all you need to do at the domain registrar for now.

After a few days if you go to mycompany.com it will be pointing to your main site, before then you can go directly to your IP to view your site.

When you have someone wanting webspace from you you just create the account in WHM then register the domain and put in ns1 and ns2.yourcompany.com for the nameservers.

Its really easy to do and if you ever have problems just ask here.

Thanks, Steve.

So I don't have to register the nameservers themselves -- gotcha.

Also, my registrar doesn't take IP's for nameservers, only the ns1 & ns2 names. This won't make a difference will it?

You do need to register your nameservers through your registrar.

"my registrar doesn't take IP's for nameservers,"

That will just be for domains you are going to be hosting. If you look at your main domain you should be able to create nameservers based on IPs.

For my registrar I click on "Create Name Server Host Records"

I then get the screen shown below where I can create different ns1, ns2 etc etc
